Our Client a Military Hospital in the United Arab Emirates has a unique Leadership opportunity for a a Chief of Orthopedic Surgery. If you are a Chief or Deputy Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, board certified and with a minimum of ten years clinical experience with demonstrated experience in either the USA, Canada or Western Europe, this may be the opportunity in a 365 bed medical center in the Heart of the United Arab Emirates.

Description

To provide Consultant-level patient care, protect and promote the health of patients and the public by providing current and effective evidence-based standard of practice and care.
Implement policies and tasks specified by the Medical Services Corp, Commander & Deputy Commander of the hospital.
Responsible for the overall management and administration of the department, including the provision of officially requested reports, making necessary changes to improve services and efficiency within the current policies of the hospital.
Suggesting changes in services not currently provided by the department and writing policies and procedures to implement these changes.
Provide leadership within the department and the hospital and maintain staff morale.
Establish a system in the department to solve staff problems, both personal and professional, in an equitable way. If required, to liaise on behalf of the staff with the hospital administration.
Responsible for supervising clinical, professional, and administrative duties of all staff in the Department and for the overall standard of clinical care of both in-patient and out-patients.
Evaluation and provision of reports on the attendance and performance of staff and the enforcement of discipline in the department. When required, the referral of failure of enforcement to the Hospital Commander or his Deputy.
Liaise professionally and administratively with other Chief of Departments or Heads of Units.
Schedule departmental activities, such as monitoring reports, grand rounds, clinics, and meetings, with other departments. In consultation with those concerned, the clinical duties of individual staff, including on-call rotas and rotation of residents.
Schedule leaves of all kinds so that department clinical requirements are covered.
Promote teaching, research, and audit within the department.
Have regular reviews of departmental needs of manpower, equipment and disposables, requesting or ordering them as appropriate, and ensuring adequate upkeep, repairs, spares, and supplies as appropriate.
Delegate tasks to other members of the department as appropriate inter-departmental or hospital duties, such as membership or chairmanship of committees or working parties, and the provision of special reports officially requested by the Administration.
Qualifications American Board Certified/Canadian Fellowship or Fellowship/Specialty Degree from a Western Country Experience Minimum of 7 years postgraduate experience as a Consultant plus minimum 2 years as Head of Department
Benefits: Potential tax free salary, allowances for hoursing, education, 36 days leave and 10 days CME and 12-15 days holidays per annum. Healthcare for physician and family with two year renewable agreement.
