Our Client is one of the most successful privately-held consumer e-commerce companies in the US. It competes in the multi-billion dollar beauty & personal care industry and is growing revenue. The Company is on-track to generate over $40 million in revenue in 2009 and is profitable.
ROLE:
Our Client is looking for a strong, dynamic and hands-on e-commerce software developer. You must have deep experience in software design and engineering, specifically for use in online, retail sales. You must be extremely driven and possess a desire to see your application produce sales.
As our new Lead Engineer of E-commerce, you will be expected to write significant amounts of code
, understand complex systems, develop functional specifications, architect appropriate solutions, drive development, oversee deployment, and ensure the highest quality code, testing, and usage experience. You must stay abreast of the latest technologies and methodologies related to online retail, general web application development, and general software development.
You will help lead the existing development team, consisting of great programmers. You will help produce innovative solutions to grow a web site that excites users and helps them to shop the way they want.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading E-commerce technology initiatives including web site development, ERP integration, customer service integration, and marketing programs.
* Architecting site technology, particularly to enhance catalog management, shopping experience, user community, marketing capabilities, and scalability.
* Writing amazing code and even better documentation
* Managing the team to ensure they write amazing code and documentation
* Working closely with VP of Technology to achieve the business' strategy and objectives
*
Working with key external vendors
Key Qualifications
* 7 Years Software Development in Java
* 7 Years Relational Database Experience (be a data master)
* 4 Years E-Commerce Software Development (consume retail strongly preferred)
* 4 Years JBoss or Tomcat Application Server
* 4 Years JavaScript
* 2 Years Spring Framework
* Incredible understanding of the Internet, from culture to technology
* Great communication skills (oral and written)

Characteristics
* Perfectly comfortable in Windows or Red Hat Linux
* Experience developing high quality test plans
* Ridiculously diligent approach to documentation and code control
* Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills; creative solutions development
* Experience with the ElasticPath Platform a serious plus
* Experience with ERP implementations helpful
* High transaction environments and experience working in sites with heavy traffic
* Experience with various scaling techniques: load balancing, caching, optimization, proxying, optimization, etc.
* Great knowledge of open source universe
* Excellent organization skills
* Experience managing other developers and being a wonderful teammate
* Experience working on community sites
* Strongly opinionated; yet flexible
* Be a well-rounded individual with a fun personality
