Click Here to Apply OnlineThe Sr. Technical Development Lead/Manager - Application Support will play a technical leadership and management role for the high growth technology department. In this role, he/she is responsible for managing the development and alignment of developer staff for all applications currently in the Production environment. As a leader in the highly motivated technology development team, this person plays a key role in all aspects of application production support, enhancements and development, with emphasis in technical design, documentation and coordination of technical team efforts. He/she will guide and mentor developers and always communicate closely with the rest of the technology development team, including keeping stakeholders informed of technical progress and risks. The Sr. Technical Development Lead/Manager - Application Support reports directly to the Vice President of Application Development.
• Overseeing current custom application environment while setting vision and standards for the development and integration of future solutions in a Java-centric environment currently leveraging Object-Relationship Modeling as well as a combination of Tomcat, WebSphere Portal, Web 2.0 technologies and the Spring and Struts Framework
• Ensuring Production Application Support team follows best practices when architecting, programming or documenting solutions. This includes creating standards and documentation and leveraging processes to ensure all development staff follow the same
• Assisting the Vice President, Application Development with development resource allocation and planning through project planning, staff hiring, staff supplementation and/or outsourcing initiatives
• Working closely with the Technology Operations team to ensure appropriate infrastructure selection, maintenance, policies and procedures are in place to support the custom application environment
Comptencies
• 12 years development experience in which at least 7 years in a management role
• 7 years managing and mentoring team of direct reports
• 5-7 years experience in core Java and J2EE custom-software development
• Strong experience working with complex large scale systems incorporating packaged and custom applications
• Strong Struts, Spring Framework, and Webflow 1/2 and object/relationship modeling experience (Torque, Hibernate, IBATIS, etc.)
• Experience in Agile development methodologies, preferably XP
• Strong knowledge of Design Patterns and UML
• Excellent knowledge in Object Oriented analysis, design and programming
• Experience with ORM framework with PostGres, MS SQL, DB2 or other Relational Database backend a strong plus.
• Experience developing in Linux, Apache, Tomcat
• Strong experience with unit testing technologies (Junit, HttpUnit, etc)
• Experience in JSF (e.g. JBoss RichFaces)
• Experience with JavaScript, including AJAX and JSON (Dojo a plus)
• Experience working with open source solutions
• Experience with Perl or other scripting languages, a plus
• Experience in Visual Basic and other Microsoft-centric languages, a plus
