Job description :
The role of Director of Finance will play a critical role in supporting the financial activities of the company. The position reports to the CFO and will support the business by ensuring financial statements are in accordance with GAAP, reporting company performance, and identifying opportunities, risks, and cost cutting initiatives.Position responsibilities: Prepare annual budget, monthly forecast, and other financial reports as needed Define and analyze key areas of the business, including title profitability, inventory, reserve for returns, author advances, and royalties Provide financial advice and guidance to publisher Contribute to strategic planning and development as member of management team Ensure compliance with GAAP Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Support monthly financial close Balance sheet and P/L analysis, reconciliation Enhance financial analysis and reporting Interact with Corporate Accounting Develop cost reduction and cost management initiatives
Who we are looking for :
The ideal candidate must be assertive, hands-on, self-directed, innovative, and driven by details and deadlines. The Director of Finance should possess the following characteristics: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required, Masters preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and its application to business issues 8 to 15 years progressive accounting/finance experience in book publishing Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills with passion for detailsStrong computer aptitude and proficiency, including expert Excel skills. Reporting functions will require ability to quickly obtain Oracle General Ledger and proprietary databases using SQL Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail Ability to organize and work with large amounts of complex information, managing multiple project priorities Outgoing personality and ability to establish rapport and work efficiently with all team members serving various functions at various levels
