Click Here to Apply OnlineOur client, a leader in the engineering field, is currently seeking to hire a Sr. Accounting Leader for their facility in New York, NY.
The Senior Accounting Leader demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Responsible for business processes and controls necessary to comply with US Government regulations and procedures related to cost account.
Essential Responsibilities -
Internal
- Lead an organization comprised of various levels of accounting personnel and to maintain an effective financial system and provide information necessary to perform controllership responsibilities
- Provide technical direction to assigned organization
- Act as liaison to various stakeholders within the company
- Review processes to improve overall efficiency
- Advise and counsel management on financial issues
- Review accounts and reports for accuracy and compliance
- Recommend and record necessary accounting adjustments
- Review proposed contracts recommending adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance and maximum financial benefit
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, reviews, and recommend changes
-Interpret and maintain current knowledge of all government cost regulations and cost accounting standards. Ensure that our accounting routines and cost practices that affect government business meet all standards of compliance for contract cost and pricing and related financial reporting.
-Review all government accounting-related contract clauses for new and proposed contracts and ensure that we can adequately comply.
-Prepare, submit and negotiate indirect cost rates applicable to government contracts.
-Prepare, submit and maintain Disclosure Statements as necessary.
-Maintain effective and constructive relationships with government customers and representatives.
-Provide advice and counsel in areas of government accounting and related company General Accounting Principles and other financial policies and procedures. Work closely with government contracts, proposals and billing organizations to ensure compliance. Also work closely with broader Finance organization to ensure general understanding of government requirements and need for compliance.
-Recommend changes and improvements for accounting and reporting routines to ensure government accounting compliance in the most efficient routines manner.
-Provide government accounting support to other affiliated businesses and entities as required. Interface with our Corporate and our other businesses on issues of government accounting.
Qualifications/Requirements -
Internal
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 additional years of experience in a financial position
- Certified Public Accountant or Master's of Business Administration is preferred
- Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- PC proficiency
- Government accounting background and familiarity with FAR and CAS regulations
- Completion of Financial Management Program
