Summary of Responsibilities:
The Manager will lead activities including financial and management reporting and analysis, monthly closing activities, monthly reporting on planned/forecasted performance vs. actual performance, and assisting with the coordination of annual budgeting and monthly forecasting. The Manager will provide analytical support on new initiatives and special projects and is expected to understand financial principles and apply working knowledge of the operations of assigned departments.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Assist in the coordination of the annual budgeting, and monthly forecasting activities for assigned service departments.
• Lead the production of the Technology & Operations consolidated monthly financial package, including metrics and sub-goals - actual/budget/forecast, expenses - actual/budget/forecast, variance explanations, staffing analysis, business conditions commentary.
• Review the monthly internal financial closing packages, analyze and report on accruals and re-classifications as necessary.
• Research stakeholder feedback, commentary and input and review with management.
• Assist in the documentation and contribution of improvements to existing processes.
• Development of Technology & Operations financial dashboard.
• Develop, conduct, and execute benchmarking of annual departmental costs internally and externally.
• Review internal department metrics reporting and partner with business to improve reports.
• Coordination of budget transfer and general ledger hierarchy change processes as necessary.
Job Requirements:
• Eight to Thirteen years work experience in a financial capacity with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Four year college degree required; major in accounting or finance strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with the development, review and implementation of financial processes.
• Knowledge of and experience with GAAP analysis and practices.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and exposure to IFRS.
• Proficiency with office automation software (MS Office Suite incl MS Access).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written skills as well as strong presentation skills.
• Ability to work both as an independent contributor and as a strong team player.
• Ability to work in and adapt to a changing environment.
• Excellent problem diagnosis and analytical skills.
• Broad exposure to reviewing plan and strategy input.
• Ability to balance several conflicting demands to achieve optimum services performance with minimum disruption to business operations.
• Sound experience in devising ways to extract data from many sources and translate this data into useful information.
• Ability to be adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines on assignments and workflow fluctuations.
• Ability to anticipate forthcoming tasks, manage personal performance effectively
• Uses sound business judgment.
• Proficiency with regards to accounting, budget and data consolidation systems (e.g. Peoplesoft, COGNOS, TM1, Khalix, HFM)
