Description
Basic Functions:
Plans, coordinates, and directs all research, product development programs.

Product Development:
1.
Partners with Marketing Director for product development activities.
2. Responsible for leading new product development activities.
3. Participates in the development of a rolling pipeline of New Product and line extension activities that support corporate strategy.
4. Works closely with co-packers to identify, test and launch new products and line extensions that can not be produced internally.
5. Works with Marketing and Sales to maximize revenue and margin impact without disrupting current operations.
6. Develops and manages all new product development within assigned budget allocation.
7. Prepares budget and controls operating costs and supplies for department and laboratory.
8. Manages labeling and regulatory function for all finished goods produced.

The successful candidate will meet a majority of the following requirements:
1. MS Degree or equivalent.
2. 10 years of applicable experience including 3 years operating at an executive level.
3. Must be able to work under pressure, prioritize, and delegate.
4. Prior meat/perishable industry experience required.
5. Must have excellent communication, critical analysis and research skills.
6. Ability to interact with tact and diplomacy in dealings with the public and governmental agencies.
7. Ability to organize large volumes of work in an efficient and detailed manner.
