Responsibilities
1) Supervise the safety and training functions for all employees within the plant
2) Assist in the administration of the HR function as directed by the Safety Manager
3) Direct plant safety processes as well as ensure compliance with corporate safety requirements, PSM, RMP and HAZMAT
4) Conduct interviews as well as facilitate new hire orientation
5) Achieve and maintain compliance with all health and safety laws as well as regulations
6) Collect incident reports, conduct investigations and take appropriate action to identify root cause as well as implement corrective action
7) Review safety incident claim costs and report to management
8) Audit and inspect plant activities
9) Identify potential violations of laws and regulations and report to management
10) Facilitate behavior observation and supervisory observation programs
11) Collect and review observation documents from BOS participants and supervisory staff
12) Identify behavioral and mechanical problems, recommend corrective action, work with management staff as well as ensure proper follow-up and problem resolution
13) Plan and manage safety projects
14) Write or discuss safety project/program plans, recommendations and or findings
15) Manage, schedule and coordinate all safety training
16) Develop and maintain training tracking system
17) Prepare attendance reports for management
18) Perform safety training and monitor safety behavior
Requirements
1) Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
2) 5 – 10 years of experience in industrial processes, manufacturing or staff functions
3) Experience in food manufacturing preferred
4) Working knowledge of OSHA safety principles and procedures as well as understanding of federal and state laws
5) Knowledge of available contractors and suppliers of safety and environmental services/supplies
6) Superb communication (oral and written) skills
7) Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
8) Ability to deal effectively with employees
9) Ability to use and interpret testing equipment
