Our company is seeking an accomplished senior executive who is experienced dealing with the myriad of complexities inherent in the convenience store sector. After an accelerated training program, the successful candidate must be capable of understanding our Client's business model and providing leadership to operations at the store, field consultant and market manager level.
Key metrics of responsibility encompass:
* Up to a $1.5 billion revenue budget
* 200-500 stores
* 2000 employees (hourly and salaried professionals including indirect leadership of franchise employees)
* driving revenue growth and capturing market share
* leading an active program of new store growth
More specifically, the Director of Operations will assume the following detailed responsibilities. * Accountable for maximization of profits and company assets and is responsible for short and long term planning in areas of budgeting, goal setting, and team development within the assigned area.
* Responsible for identifying talent, developing capabilities & leadership in others, building bench-strength and creating a high performing and high potential team.
* Plans, organizes, and provides leadership/management for profitable daily operations of stores within assigned area, using sales planning and the business system. Implements and verifies key business concepts within the Market.
* Leadership model for Market Managers, Field Consultants and Store Operators. Leads by example and holds direct reports accountable for leadership behaviors, including modeling the use of the business system and coaching of Franchisees.
* Leads the focus on Fresh Food sales, including setting and meeting sales goals, ensuring all stores utilize available training resources, and meet all quality standards.
OVERVIEW
The Director of Operations will assume a leadership position with accountability for defining, planning and executing the goals of a significant business. Therefore, our Client seeks to attract, ideally, a skillful and strategic retail executive who has enjoyed previous success as a general manager, increasing both market share and achieving profit goals. The successful candidate, will, most likely, be an experienced leader who has guided other retailers to expand their market presence and increase sales at the store level.
The “hiring executive”, who is the Senior Vice President of Operations, prefers to recruit an executive who is a strong leader and has the ability to function as a change agent. Success in an organization where generating more progressive and effective operations, better merchandising and promotional initiatives is imperative. Successful candidates should be confident, possess business savvy and have a leadership style that enables colleagues and subordinates.
Previous background involving convenience store operations and merchandising would be desirable, but is not imperative. Outlined below is a qualifications summary that will guide our screening and evaluationprocess.
* Ten plus years of business and leadership experience, with the most recent experience involving responsibility for P&L, balance sheet, strategic planning, operations, marketing, merchandising and promotion within a retail environment. Ideally, the successful candidate will have background with other respected “small box” retailers.
