Teaches Chinese and/or Japanese language and Area Studies classes as assigned by the Department.

1. Prepare and teach Chinese and/or Japanese language and Area Studies courses to facilitate student learning.
2. Demonstrate a depth of understanding in the field of language and area studies.
3. Demonstrate distinctive promise as an faculty member in the Humanities, Language and Culture, and International Studies Department.
4. Demonstrate commitment to professional development and significant contributions to the Department.
5. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to Department, School and College mission and values.
6. Assess and maintain student performance records.
7. Develop, distribute and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
8. Participate in curriculum development, revision, and textbook selection.
9. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops.
10. Advise students on program and/or course requirements.
11. Maintain a professional working relationship with students, colleagues and administration.
12 Maintain regularly scheduled office/consultation hours.
13. Attendance at New Faculty Orientation sessions is required.
14. Accept other duties as assigned.

Skills:
Preference is given to candidates with teaching experience in philosophy, humanities, religious studies, cultural studies, or art history in addition to Chinese and/or Japanese language.
Knowledge and experience in online and electronic instructional methodologies in the disciplines of language and/or area studies preferred.

1. Master's degree (or verification of completion of degree requirements by the time of employment) in Chinese or Japanese Language or related language or linguistics degree, or in Asian Studies. Master's Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
2. Two (2) years full-time language teaching experience at the college level.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in Chinese and/or Japanese.
