This exciting bench position within the Biochemical Discovery Biology section of the Automated Biotechnology Center of Excellence at Merck is responsible for:

In vitro HTS assay development with an emphasis on biochemical screens of kinases among other target classes and target-family screening such as kinase profiling.
Develop in vitro biochemical HTS assays for lead identification that represent the biological context of target function
Meets the efficiency and accuracy demands of compound screening.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills are required to interact with cross-functional partners within the Center of Excellence and with programs teams across the global Merck basic research sites.

B.S. in biochemistry or related discipline with 8+ years experience or M.S. in biochemistry or related discipline with 6+ years experiencei n HTS assay development or Ph.D. in biochemistry or related discipline.

Requirements:

Sound understanding of enzymology and protein biochemistry
Demonstrated ability to develop assays for HTS and hit validation in alignment with global research portfolio priorities for multiple programs using the full range of biochemical HTS formats (such as alphascreen TR-FRET fluorescence and SPA)
Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Excel
Experience with the use of automated liquid handlers and microplate readers and data analysis experience with applications such as GraphPad Prism is a plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
