Full time position is currently available with our team of five neonatologists and seven nurse practitioners, which provides Neonatology Services in a 45-bed single-patient room referral NICU. This new NICU is part of the Betty H. Cameron Women and Childrens Hospital at New Hanover Regional Medical Center that also includes a new Maternity, L& D, and PICU and is located in beautiful, oceanside Wilmington, North Carolina. Duties include providing care for Level III and Level II NICU patients, attending high risk deliveries, consulting on sick patients in the newborn nursery, data collection and supervising/participating in the neonatal transport team (land and air) and outreach education. Procedures include umbilical lines, peripheral arterial lines, percutaneous central venous lines, thoracentesis, chest tubes, intubations, etc. There are two perinatologists on staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, a 628-bed major referral hospital for southeastern North Carolina, and a pediatric surgeon is due to join our medical staff in March 2010. The hospital has over 4000 deliveries per year and over 550 admissions to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Pediatric Surgery (March 2010), high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide (in the near future), high-risk developmental clinic, and prolonged rooming in of the mother infant pair are some of the care options available in our NICU. Moreover, active participation in VON collaborative projects and clinical research opportunities are available for NNPs.
The hospitals accredited residency training programs include internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, and obstetrics/gynecology, which are affiliated with the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine.

Compensation: To Be Announced. Very competitive for NC.

Experience: Credentials: RN, NNP
New NNPs need to be flight capable for neonatal helicopter transports.

Transports: Ambulance and helicopter

Interview Process: A phone interview with our NICU Director will be conducted before a permanent and/or locums NNP will be invited to Wilmington to interview in person. The Director needs a CV and references in hand before he will schedule a phone interview.

Credentialing Process/Medical Liability Insurance: minimum of 6 to 8 weeks with a North Carolina license.
