Responsibilities
1) Manage customer and broker planning to achieve volume, distribution, pricing and merchandising, trade spending and retail objectives
2) Oversee all key national/corporate/regional customers, food independent and food distributors (Hispanic) to achieve desired growth objectives
3) Maximize market/customer opportunities by effective implementation of company’s plans and full utilization of available resources
4) Ensure delivery of shipment/consumption and merchandising objectives within company’s strategies and spending parameters
5) Manage long term strategic business development and alliances
6) Oversee large regional customers pursued for rapid growth and expansion
7) Manage timely and accurate administration of business
8) Assist in high potential company initiatives including potential acquisitions, new category development, and geographic/channel expansion assignments
9) Direct and monitor all aspects of trade promotion activity
10) Ensure that trade promotion funds are used in an effective and efficient manner consistent with company strategies
11) Establish and clearly communicate to each broker/corporate customer organization the market objectives, strategies and programs that contribute to the delivery of the company plan
12) Review, develop and approve market and key customer plans prior to presentation
13) Ensure compliance with company policies, spending guidelines and brand strategies
14) Investigate all options and recommend modifications to national guidelines for local market opportunities to develop more efficient and effective programs
15) Develop co-op programs for rapid corporate customer growth
16) Review strategy for understanding and compliance with brokers and corporate customers
17) Participate with brokers and conduct corporate customer presentations for annual plans
18) Approve changes to customer plans that result in significant positive variances in volume, spending or strategy
19) Manage execution versus plan with review of sales/shipment reports during customer/market visits utilizing our sales data system
20) Communicate and provide recommendations to VP of Sales that counter unforeseen competitive situations that might not be addressed with available resources
21) Stay current on promotional administration by reviewing key deduction reports
22) Communicate with the company’s accounts receivable keeping controls on expense
23) Review post promotional analysis of spending, consumption, merchandising performance and shipments
24) Determine if performance matches target/plan and if the event was the most efficient program
25) Ensure that the broker/customer utilizes information to drive more effective and efficient plans
26) Develop a comprehensive understanding of local/national market business dynamics (franchise, customer development, local cost of doing business, customer strategies/objectives, trade requirements, etc.)
27) Ensure availability of company’s and broker’s resources such as customer/category information as well as other functional expertise (as needed)
Requirements
1) Degree (4 year) in Business Administration preferred (MBA a plus)
2) Minimum 15 years of experience in Mexican food sales (selling to Hispanic food distributors/retailers) including 4+ years of calling on Safeway, Albertsons and large regional chains
3) Experience in broker management and retail CPG sales as well as handling P&L duties
4) Familiarity with all classes of trade and customers in the US
5) Proficiency in Spanish and English a plus
6) Candidates residing in Northern CA preferred along with willingness to travel (35%)
