We are searching for a senior level Hydrogeologist to join this environmental/geotechnical group in Edmonton. You will be work closely with Geotechnical, Geological, Materials Engineering and Testing services to conduct and deliver site investigations, assessments, reports and proposals in regards to soil and water projects. This is a $100k+ role offering added perks that can be discussed with the recruitment consultant during the interview process. There are no direct reports to this role; however, you will take the lead from a project perspective.
Main Responsibilities:
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
· Providing expertise on a wide variety of contaminant and non contaminant hydrogeology projects (organic and inorganic)
· Designing and conducting field investigations including soil and groundwater investigations, monitoring programs and site-specific risk assessment / criteria development;
· Investigating, characterizing and assessing contaminated and non contaminated sites and report on your findings
· Oversee and conduct pump tests with associated interpretation for groundwater supply
· Preparing proposals, writing reports and working with your team members to provide guidance and project leadership
Position Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate strong initiative and be capable of independent action with the confidence and ability to make decisions based on your experiences. Knowledge of remediation of contaminated sites (including design and implementation of remedial strategies), regulatory liaison and negotiation, and contaminant / fate modeling is crucial to being successful in this role. You must have demonstrated experience and leadership in project management, including budget, schedule and deliverable performance.
Must Have:
· Completed Bachelor Degree in Geology
· Post-graduate degree in Hydrogeology or related discipline
· Academic qualifications which give the candidate eligibility for professional registration with APEGGA in Alberta as a P.Geol
· 8-10+ years of relevant experience including a specific focus in one or more of the areas of groundwater monitoring and modeling, contaminant hydrogeology and site remediation
· Confident ability to conduct aerial photographic interpretations
· Strong, well-rounded knowledge of physical geology, hydrogeology and contaminant hydrogeology
· Preferred: Experience with industry-standard hydrogeology packages such as Modflow, HydroGeo Analyst, RT3D and/or MT3D
To be successful in this role, you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. You should be able to communicate and liaise with multiple stakeholders, clients and team members, so strong interpersonal skills are a must. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
