One of SGA's major financial clients is looking for a UNIX/ESX Adminsitrator for a long-term consulting role in Houston, TX. This person will handle day-to-day support of the ESX environment and also the AIX/Solaris/Linux environment including break/fix, root cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures. WIll do mentoring of Level 2 and 1 ESX & UNIX SA with regards to clustering, monitoring and troubleshooting, must be able to work in an On-Call environment that is global and 24x7, and be able to pass and receive work for global peers in different time zones, handle the streamlining of processes and procedures, ongoing improvements to the environment, patching, management reporting, etc.
Resource will diagnose and troubleshoot ESX server, UNIX (AIX/Solaris/Linux) server, Windows, AIX and Linux virtual server problems and issues with minimal supervision, dment detailed problem resolution summaries and work histories, technical documentation and application discovery, manage multiple production service requests and internal projects and perform routine root cause analysis investigations and document as required. The shifts will me 8-12 hours shifts Friday Monday
Skills and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge (2+ years experience) of VMWare ESX Server versions and
- At least 5 years experience in AIX Systems Administration. Working knowledge of versions , is required.
- Advanced knowledge of Solaris 8, 9 & 10 AND/OR RedHat Enterprise Linux , ,
- Advanced scripting abilities a must in at least the following languages: Shell, Perl
- Minimum of 5 years experience of working with Windows and or Linux Servers in a production environment.
- Operational experience in a large-scale data center.
- Understanding of backup process, system monitoring, performance tuning disaster recovery and scripting for Linux based OS.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting issues with SAN/HBA/Fabric environments
- Understanding of patching process for Operating System
- Understanding of networking natting, sub-nets and VLAN
- Understanding of security best practices for multi-tiered operating systems
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or related field preferred
- Systems administration certification for supported Operating System (Windows Server) preferred
In depth experience with installing, configuring and maintaining Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster Server
Perl scripting, Shell scripting, Root Cause Analysis, Advanced Windows/UNIX Skills
Would be a plus to have experience with MSCE, RHCE, VLAN and VBScript
Good knowledge of systems management covering the following key products:
- Tivoli or Higher
- SNMP Traps
- Virtual Center
- Microsoft SQL Server 2003 or Higher
- Perl Scripting
- Windows 2008 Clustering Procedures
- Linux Kernel Configuration
- Change Management Procedures
- Versioning
