L D Registered Nurse 7p-7a

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
Desirable characteristics include at least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs and to provide care needed as described to in policy and procedures.
Registration, Licensure and /or Certification Required:

Must have current RN license certified by the Texas State Boards of Nurse Examiners.
Current BLS/CPR or completion of course within 30 days of employment.
Current ACLS and NRP or completion of course(s) within 60 days of employment.
General Responsibilities:

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning personal, financial, medical and employment status of patients at SMMC and their families.
Maintain and develop nursing skills through participation in education programs.
Flexible in meeting the needs of the patient, unit and/or facility.
Completes unit responsibilities in a timely manner. Willingly assists other units when requested to do so.
Assure compliance with hospital policies and all governing rules and regulations.
Assume responsibility for supervising and coordinating the unit's staff and operations.
Responsible for registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, student nurses, and volunteers, who may be working under his/her supervision during the scheduled shift.
