A short distance from Rochester, Albany, Canada, the St. Lawrence River, the Adirondack Mountains and the Thousand Islands. There is a large selection of year round sports which includes many snow skiing and summer resorts and many tournament class golf courses. There is a Casino with regular scheduled Las Vegas quality shows and concerts. This metro area has156k people living in the city and 456k in the county. There is an international airport with direct jet service to most major cities in the US. High quality education available. There is a large selection of inexpensively priced private schools. Some schools, both private and public, are nationally renowned for their academics and sports programs. There many colleges and universities in the region with Division One ranked football, basketball & lacrosse programs. The community is ethically diverse with many churches of varied denominations, synagogues, temples and mosques. There are private theater groups, museums, a symphony orchestra, many good restaurants to choose from and a regional IMAX Theater and Science Center. The job market is high tech in nature with health care research, a teaching hospital, a large pharmaceutical manufacturer and many engineering companies such as Welch Allen and Lockheed Martin to name a couple. Low crime rate. * COMPENSATION $19.93-$31.58/hr DOE. *JOB TYPE is Permanent/Retained Employee, Full-time. * WORK SCHEDULE: Eight (8) hour shifts. 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. No weekends, no holidays. * LICENSE and EDUCATION: ASN or BSN (preferred). CPR. NY RN license. Minimum 2 years experience in a clinical nurse leadership role. * JOB DESCRIPTION UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE NURSE MANAGER, YOU WILL ASSIST IN THE FOLLOWING DUTIES (other duties may be assigned): * Selects, schedules, assigns, and evaluate staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary based on surgical schedule. * Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and hospital in accordance with administrative policies procedures. * Plan and organize orientation and in-service training for staff members, and participate in guidance and educational programs. * Coordinates OR activities and the work assignments of staff members. * Consult with nurses and other healthcare staff on healthcare delivery problems and interpretation of hospital or center policies to ensure patient needs are met. * Develop, implement, and coordinate surgical services quality management, utilization review, and discharge planning programs. * Develop, implement, and evaluate procedures to ensure effective and efficient use of staff, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards. * Evaluate staff for efficiency of service. * Direct the nursing assessment of all patients. * Observes nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with physician instructions. * Develop, implement, and evaluate OR policies, goals, and objectives. * Participate in the development and modifications of OR protocols. * Participate in infection control * Participate in quality assessment activities and analysis. * Interpret and enforce department and institution policies. * Participates in the development and monitoring of unit budget. * Participate in appropriate department and hospital committees. * Direct preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records. * Inspect OR suites & recovery room for cleanliness and comfort. * Accompany physician on rounds. * Keep informed of special orders concerning patients. * Coordinate activities with other departments, patient care units, and agencies. * Direct ordering of drugs, solutions, equipment, and maintains records on narcotics * Investigate and resolve complaints, and refers unusual problems to director. * Engage in studies and investigation as to improving delivery of service. * BENEFITS: Non Union (Exempt Employees ) - IRC Section 125 Cafeteria Plan Tax savings are available through Premium Conversion, Dependent Care Spending Accounts and Health Care Spending Accounts. 1.)
