Nurse Manager - Medical - FT Exempt position
 

Reports to Director of Med/Surg and is responsibile for daily oversight and operation of a 15-20 bed Medical unit. Bachelors degree is required, Masters preferred. Must have at least 3 years of previous leadership/management experience in the clinical area of supervision. Responsibilities are as follows:
 
Consults with director concerning management of assigned units and all related matters.
 
Organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities in assigned units.
 
Completes performance appraisals with employees. Intervenes and resolves personnel problems.  Consults with director, as needed, regarding corrective actions.
 
Interviews applicants and makes hiring recommendations.
 
Prepares work schedules for units.
 
Responsible for clinical education of staff to ensure competencies are maintained.
 
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
 
Prepares operational and capital budget and monitors resources to meet needs and financial goals of the department.
 
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
 
Maintains and submits all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
 
Schedules and conducts unit conferences.
 
Performs other duties as assigned.
