Click Here to Apply Online Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Schedule: Full time, 72 hours/pp, varied 12 hour and 24 hour, can discuss needs more specifically during initial phone contact. Department: Neonatal Services Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing patients and coordinating the services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system. Maintains a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s). Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures. Provides educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community and coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care. Unit Profile: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner position available in Level 3-C center Children's Hospital, with a new children's Hospital to open in 2010, with an addition to the NICU. Presently, we have 67 ICU beds and 28 intermediate beds, but will be expanding to 112 total beds in 2010. Some highlights of our NICU are as follows: ECLS CenterHFV/ Jet and Oscillator/INOHigh Risk Delivery Room ManagementTransport Management Ground and AirTeaching Hospital-Resident Program and NNP PreceptorshipComprehensive patient management role in this family centered unitWorks autonomously as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team: Neonatologist/RRT/ Pharmacist/ Nursing/ OT/ PT/ Residents/ Child Life Specialist/Pediatric Surgery/Cardiology/Thoracic SurgeryMember of Vermont Oxford Network Job Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Masters Degree in Nursing/health related field. Certified and licensed as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the State of Michigan. Maintenance of CPR certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support as appropriate for patient population. Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred, but not required. Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role. Other: Ability to coordinate care provided by multiple services. Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Time management and organizational skills. Independently mobile.
