Applications are being accepted for the position of Network Administrator within our newly reorganized Enterprise Systems and Technology (EST) department centralizing the Citys Information Technology and Geographical Information Systems. The Network Administrator is a highly responsible position providing technical expertise for local and metro area networks. Incumbent will evaluate, make procurement recommendations, propose network standards, test, install, implement, manage and complete upgrades in the following areas: server hardware, network management software and tools, wiring and peripheral switching components, LAN/WAN/MAN IP layers 1-4 design and configuration, routers, fiber optics, internet connectivity, internal/external network security.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in information management, computer science or related field with at least four years experience in network administration and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will have working knowledge and experience of networks and network design principals including routing and hardware configuration; fiber optic principles, design and deployment; virtual and non-virtual server environments; and network security. Requires the ability to work rotation for 24-hour on-call duties.
