TYPE: Onsite contract (potential of going contract-to-hire, following completion of contract term.

DURATION: 6 to 7 months, extendable

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Candidate will be reporting to the Manager of Distributed Services. Individual will use his/her expert-level technical knowledge in UNIX operating systems and related systems software and hardware to install, configure, test, and maintain UNIX development, test and production systems. He/she will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, reviewing and analyzing operating systems, systems software, and hardware failures. Troubleshoots, analyzes, and reviews application and system failures and other critical problems.
Help in developing the technical skills of all team members.
He/she should be able to participate in 24 X 7 on-call support, on a rotating basis once every 6 weeks based on current staff level

KEY QUALIFYING SKILLS:
Position requires expert-level technical knowledge in UNIX operating systems and their related systems software and hardware.
He/she must have expert knowledge in all areas related to platform specific technologies and possess broad knowledge related to systems, systems utilities, and tools used to install, configure, and maintain operating and network systems, systems software and hardware.
Must possess 7 to 10 years worth of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MUST HAVES (on as many of the following):
* Advanced shell scripting and performance tuning.
* Sun Solaris 8 OS and later versions, Sun hardware, in both virtual and stand alone configurations, Sun Clustering
* Veritas Cluster and Volume Manager
* IBM AIX 5.x, Linux, IBM Clustering (HACMP)
