Responsibilities:Uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. Assesses, monitors, detects, plans and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications and promotes optimal level of health. Accountable for integrating care within scope of practice licensure, relevant education and experience. Reports to shift Team Leader and is accountable to the Department Manager. Utilizes Policies and Procedures to guide job duties. Level specific criteria are evaluated annually and can be found in the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital Clinical Ladder. Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Oncology Nursing Certification preferred. Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. Experience : Oncology experience preferred. Other Job Requirements: o Hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills for inserting IVs, manipulating IV tubing and IV pumps, giving injections, drawing blood, removing sutures, and computer use. o Ability to maintain positive interaction with all types of patients, significant others and coworkers in order to effectively care for the patients. Maintains confidentiality. o Ability to lift and /or maneuver objects weighing 30 pounds using appropriate body mechanics in lifting, positioning and transferring of patients. Walking and standing for long period. o Ability to interpret, synthesize, prioritize and make immediate judgments using long and short-term memory related to managing and caring for patients. o Ability to visually observe and hear, palpate and articulate clearly for accurate and timely communication o Designated shift may be altered due to changes in staffing patterns related to patient needs. o Competent within 6 months of hire with all age groups within defined patient population. Demonstrates sensitivity when interacting with diverse ethnic groups. Pursuant to Michigan Public Acts 27, 28 and 29 of 2006, this job position requires a fingerprint background check completed through Human Resources at Northern Michigan Hospital.
