Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services and elements of patient/client care management leading to optimal outcomes according to the Wisconsin and Minnesota Physical Therapy Standards of Practice. The PTA works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in the areas of education and consultation regarding patient care needs in accordance with the vision and mission of Gundersen Lutheran. The PTA may also coordinate and provide aquatic therapy services to selected patient populations as needed. Education/Learning Experience: - Required: Graduation from APTA approved program as a Physical Therapist Assistant. - Desired: Certified Athletic Trainer. Work Experience: - Desired: Related work experience in physical therapy, sports physical therapy, aquatic physical therapy or athletic training. Requirements: Good written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer skills (word, e-mail, excel). Good time management skills. Understanding of physical therapy modalities, exercise rehabilitation progression, goniometric measurement and CPR certification. - Desired: Water Safety Instructor. Licenses/Certifications: - Required: Wisconsin License as required by the state. Minnesota License, if required by the state. - Desired: Certification as an ATC by the NATA-BOC or as CSCS by the NSCA. Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position - Be able to instruct, demonstrate and correct patient performance in appropriate exercises for stretching, weight-lifting, aquatic therapy, aerobic conditioning and proprioception; be able to communicate verbally and in writing; walking, standing, sitting, twisting, and reaching above and below shoulder level are required; lifting limit of 50 pounds..
