Brief Description of Role Specific responsibilities include: - Build the controls and organization necessary to effectively manage risk for growing product inventories: government-backed fixed income, bank-backed fixed income, corporate-backed fixed income, equity/exchange traded securities, structured products and other specialties, such as restricted stock/bonds and insurance/annuities. - Provide leadership for due diligence, commitments committee, credit risk diligence, exchange and regulatory compliance, registration management, syndicate/selling group support, fixed income trader support, equity IPO/secondary trade administration, and support for a variety of specialty products including annuities, restricted stock and structured products. - Work with key business partners, in particular Risk and Credit Management and Compliance, to set risk limits and leverage existing resources to accomplish objectives. - Participate in the risk oversight process, as a member of our internal Credit and Market Risk Oversight Committee. - In partnership with Legal, Compliance and Risk Management, responsible for risk decision making, critical to the firms profitability and paramount to retaining Schwabs pristine brand image, as well as regulatory issues regarding trade executions and all compliance requirements. Technical/Functional Qualifications - 10 years of experience in investment oversight, or securities trading administration. - Strong people management skills. - Legal or compliance education/experience preferred. - Capital Markets, Exchanges and Over the Counter market experience preferred. - A strong client orientation balanced with appropriate risk management. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - The ability to build a strong network and gain support from cross-organizational partnerships. - Extremely strong analytical/strategic skills and exceptional business judgment. - An understanding and belief in the nuances of working in a firm that serves clients first as a path to success. .
