Responsibilities: Selects, trains, evaluates and supervises the activities of assigned staff. Assigns projects, establishes goals and reviews performance. Develops and implements staff development and training activities. Ensures compliance with and disseminates information regarding policies, procedures and regulations as established by police policies and procedures manual, the Penal Code and other applicable law enforcement codes and regulations. Monitors and updates operational procedures. Investigates and responds to complaints. Prepares comprehensive reports and/or proposals. Conducts surveys and maintains records and files, as required. Serves as liaison between the Police Department and other law enforcement and judicial agencies. Evaluates section and/or unit operations to identify opportunities for improvement in effectiveness, efficiency and customer satisfaction. May make presentations to community groups and/or the City Council on section and /or unit operations. Prepares budget requests and requisitions and administers budget accounts. Inventories and orders section and/or unit supplies, when needed. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Requirements: Knowledge of: Effective supervision principles and practices. Office management. Basic mathematics. Applicable laws, regulations, codes, policies and procedures. Modern office procedures and practices. Ability to: Supervise, train and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Write reports and maintain records. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. .
