Responsibilities: The patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients including general medical, general surgical (appendectomy, cholectomy, colon resections, hernia repairs), orthopedics, oncology, end-of-life care, urology, and pediatrics. Diagnoses include status post abdominal, orthopedic, thyroid and gynecological surgeries. Our Shared Leadership Council has been very successful in developing changes to education and practice issues in the department. We are committed to the success of our peers and the care provided to our patients. There are many changes expected in our future one of which is a transition to a laptop cart for documentation and medication administration via electronic medication administration record (e-MAR). The unit provides a set schedule that repeats every six weeks. The nursing personnel work 12-hour shifts and work every third weekend. There are ancillary staffs of Unit Secretary and Certified Nursing Assistances. Requirements: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing. Preferred : Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree. Experience as a Staff Nurse in an acute ICU setting. Required : Must have 2 years of current experience to work PRN. .
