Responsibilities: Responsible for performance, analysis and written documentation of complex biochemical and pharmacological experiments using specialized techniques and radioactive tracers in vitro in tissue samples and in vivo in rodents; training and functional supervision of personnel, including graduate students and staff. Maintaining the daily operation of the laboratory, including ordering, general cleanliness and radiation safety. Position requires decisions based upon the exercise of ingenuity, improvisation and judgment. Required Qualifications: A Masters degree in [list degrees, e.g. Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry] and appropriate area of study is necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Detailed Description: Performance and analysis of in vitro assays in rodent tissues and human cancer cell lines, including: 1) radio receptor binding assays, association and dissociation kinetics, determinations of functional G-protein coupling; 2) cutting and mounting of tissue sections for autoradiography; and 3) development of western blotting procedures for receptor / antibody determinations. Performance and analysis of in vivo assays in normal rodents and rodents bearing human cancer xenografts to 1) determine the pharmacokinetics of radiolabeled compounds in various tissues and organs of the body, as well as discrete regions of the brain; and 2) to assess the metabolism of the radiolabeled compounds in various tissues and organs. Laboratory administrative duties, including supply ordering, chemical inventory and database updates, documentation of radiation safety, and general maintenance of equipment Training and supervision of various personnel in specific techniques, including staff, students and faculty as needed.
