Sr. Mgr, R&D Bioinformatics - (US-NC-Durham - 27722) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: Ensure the success of the Biomaths and Bioinformatics team by proactively interfacing with the internal customers, setting clear objectives for the group, and following through on activities to ensure results were achieved.Create the opportunity for the Biomath and Bioinformatics personnel to be successful in completing their assignments. Develop qualified Biomath and Bioinformatics resources by providing training, mentoring, and coaching in order to meet the needs of company.Identify qualified resources through recruiting, retaining, contracting, and succession planning.Establish the budget (resources and expenses) for the Biomath and Bioinformatics activities in alignment with the corporate projects and budgetary guidelines. Understand the longterm needs of the company and create necessary plans to provide the analytical support needed to meet those objectives. Ensure the group meets budget and project/service objectives.To align the Biomath resources with company, department, and project goals through goal setting, performance reviews, salary management, and career development.Identify and promote new analytical techniques (in consultations with technical experts within the team) in order to better position the company in the marketplace. Identify and provide access to educational opportunities on analytical methods for company personnel in order to enhance our ability to make decisions.Keep management and all stakeholders informed of the status and issues of the Biomath group so that they have the information needed for decisionmaking.Collaborate with the European Bioinformatics and Biomath leadership counterpart(s) to share practices and resources globally.To create and maintain the necessary procedures (work instructions) to adequately and accurately capture the activities performed by the Biomath and Bioinformatics group on a daytoday basis to comply with the companys Quality System.Position Skills/QualificationsMS in Mathematics or Biostatistics/Statistics or Computational Biology, or a graduate degree in a scientific discipline along with additional experience. A PhD is preferred.12 years of experience working in a scientific / R&D environment, with at least 7 years of applied Bioinformatics or biostatistics / Biomaths experience.4 years management experience in leading a Bioinformatics / Biostatistics team. At least 2 years of additional project / team leadership experience. Experience in negotiating and budgeting time between competing crossfunctional demands for resources. Experience managing a crossfunctional consulting group3 years industry / corporate experience. Past experience in medical device product development strongly preferred.Experience leading a group to promote process improvement and innovation activitiesFamiliarity with data management, knowledge management and data mining concepts.Past experience working within or closely with an IT organization or a group that develops and supports software.Experience with international product development teams strongly preferredExperience with FDA Quality System Regulation or other regulated environment desiredKnowledge of microbiology a plusExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and leadership skillsPotential for further growth into more senior management positionsDesire to work in an environment dedicated to delivery quality services/productsDesire to lead a team in achieving their personal best quality of workAbility to lead a team across sites and work autonomously
