Business Analyst - (US-CT-Norwalk - 06860) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Jobcode: N/A Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: The position of Business Analyst reports to the Manager of Travel Accounting in the Finance department and is responsible for data analysis and data harvesting of new and existing data marts from financial accounting systems. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interpret end user requests, understand the data to fulfill these requests and develop reports, ad-hoc analysis and/or data structures to meet these requests. Subject areas include, but are not limited to, customer and product level data. The ideal candidate will be flexible, dedicated, self-motivated and results oriented. Primary Responsibilities: Fulfilling requests using SQL or other reporting tool (such as Brio or SAS), and/or working with other team members to design structures that will provide data for easy harvesting. Working with users to understand their requirements; developing business specifications and getting user sign off Performing data analysis to determine best sources for reporting and to determine data quality. Presenting data in a format that is readily understood by end users and performing more advanced statistical analysis for management decisions. Estimating the amount of work required to fulfill requests and setting user expectations accordingly. Performing QA testing of new data structures. Coordinating development of new structures or working with end users and other IT resources to insure that end user needs are met. Working with department management to determine priorities and work assignments. Training business users on data, star schema and software tools such as SQL Navigator and Brio. Required Skills Proven ability to perform data analysis and in-depth experience in a reporting tool or SQL. Working knowledge of Micro Strategy software a plus. Experience and comfort level working in an environment requiring quick turn around, in-depth data analysis and understanding of data warehouses. Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. Good organizational and work management skills. Understanding of both business needs and the technical requirements for any project. Demonstrated ability to work independently, coordinate the efforts of others, as well as work well with people at a wide range of levels. .
