Other Agriculture - (US-CA-Fresno - 93888) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Jobcode: N/A Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership of the Department and VERC for the full range of responsibilities necessary to administer, develop, and operate programs including but not limited to: (1) planning and administering the academic and research programs, including the enhancement of instruction and building research capacity; (2) develop strong and effective liaisons with all branches of the viticulture and enology industries of California's San Joaquin Valley; (3) formulating and implementing strategic plans and budgets through consultations with administrators, faculty, staff and industry; and (4) effectively representing the Department and VERC. Additional responsibilities will include service on appropriate committees, student academic advising, serving on graduate thesis committees, working with student organizations, participation in service at all levels of the university, and engaging in community service related to professional responsibilities. Specific assignments will depend on department needs. Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty. Academic Preparation An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) from an accredited institution; disciplines may include but are not limited to botany, biochemistry, plant physiology, chemistry, horticulture, microbiology, and food science. Appointment at the rank of Professor will require a record of outstanding teaching, scholarly work, and/or professional activities. Teaching Or Other Experience Candidates are expected to demonstrate evidence of research, scholarly and teaching activity commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with tenure. Candidates having experience and familiarity with California grape and wine industries are preferred. Demonstrated experience in warm weather viticulture and/or enology is preferred. Evidence of ability to plan, budget, and manage an academic department in a consultative and collegial style is required. .
