Position Characteristics The Rehabilitation Counseling Program is a 60-unit, CORE accredited graduate program at California State University in existence since 1971. In addition to the Master of Science degree program, it has five clinics serving about 1200 clients. It currently has four tenured and tenure-track faculty and 21 foundation staff. Its graduate program is one of the largest graduate rehabilitation counseling program in the country. This position is to implement the new Center for Disability Innovation (CDI). The Director of Special Projects will work on implementing the following projects: - Develop the CDI website and letterhead - Work with Director and Department Chair to establish the special populations undergraduate major - Work with Director to develop the pre-doctoral track - Work with Director on preliminary development of doctoral program - Coordinate student activities and Rehabilitation Counseling Student Association - Help complete and publish two current research projects. - Teach rehab classes as assigned - Write or assist with writing grants especially for undergraduate and doctoral program and for capacity development for CDI - Assist with raising $35 million to build the CDI - Be in charge of community development for CDI - Develop the Policies and Procedures for CDI - Develop the operational guidelines of interaction among the working entities of the CDI e.g. Rehab program, Center for Independent Living, Wayfinders, NCRE etc. - Begin work on establishing an Assistive Technology Lab - Begin work on the Business Nursery - Support the Workability IV program as certified match - Other projects as assigned by the Director of CDI Academic Preparation Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling or related degree with particular expertise in Assistive and communication technology. Be a CRC or CRC eligible. Teaching Or Other Experience Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and expertise in assistive technology, UD and UDL. It is preferred that candidates have a history of or potential for developing grant proposals and attracting external funding. .
