Government Relations/Outreach - (US-DC-Washington - 56972) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: A leading national conservation organization, seeks a Spring 2010 Intern/Volunteer to assist the Government Relations and External Affairs staff with various legislative and advocacy priorities, including but not limited to climate change; renewable resources; public lands protection; and various wildlife-focused issues.We are requesting a three-month commitment on a flexible schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week.Essential Duties and Help coordinate the timely distribution of policy letters and documents to Congressional officesConduct issue and regional constituency research to help develop targets, messaging, and materials for legislative prioritiesDraft reports, factsheets, activist alerts, reports, and articlesWork with outreach staff to help organize communication with key activists in targeted congressional districtsProvide other general and administrative support to the Government Relations department.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in related discipline (natural sciences or public policy) or advanced undergraduate work with relevant majorExperience:Strong interest or experience in natural resources or governmentAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.Other Requirements: Strong organizational skillsSolid written and verbal communications skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
