This is highly responsible professional and administrative work in the planning, budgeting, managing, and overseeing the operation and related activities of the following areas of the City of Columbus NE: city parks, golf courses, community and aquatics centers, area transportation services, and cemeteries. Coordinates assigned activities with other City departments and outside agencies and provides responsible and administrative support to City Administrator.
Work involves responsibility for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the assigned areas identified above. Work includes the selection of personnel and the preparation of an annual budget including recommendations for capital improvements. Supervision is exercised directly or through subordinates and is performed under the general direction of the City Administrator. The job incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment in the planning and execution of maintenance/repair projects and the management of assigned functions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements (relevant experience may substitute for educational attainment): Graduation from high school supplemented by coursework and associate degree from community college; four year college degree preferred/desirable in parks and recreation, business, or related areas needed to perform assigned job responsibilities.
Considerable experience in the maintenance of public properties, facilities, land and grounds, with increasing responsibility in assigned areas and responsible supervisory and administrative experience.
This salaried position has a pay scale of $56,688 to $79,392 and includes a competitive fringe benefit plan.
