Implements and coordinates environmental protection and compliance activities assigned to the Ghent station.Major Accountabilities:Oversee and guides the activities to place, monitor quality, and report on coal combustion products (CCP’s) for the Ghent station. Performs routine monitoring, audits and provides guidance of station compliance for all air, water, and solid waste requirements. Monitor plant processes for in environmental compliance and seek out ways for process improvement. Reviews and analyzes specific scientific data using established procedures. Assists in the review and analysis of proposed/existing environmental legislation/regulations. Prepares accurate and timely reports as necessary for submittal to regulatory agencies. Maintains records as required by company policy and environmental regulations. In conjunction with Environmental Affairs, provide technical communications to regulatory agencies regarding compliance, follow regulatory development, participate in regulatory promulgation, advise management, and keep plant personnel advised of changes. Directs planning activities related to environmental compliance. Provides information and assists in the development of plant budgets, operating, and investment plans. Develops and conducts environmental compliance training, tailgates, and information sessions for plant personnel. Develops and oversees waste reduction, recycling and alternative product programs. Coordinates permitting in the water and hazardous waste areas. Performs other duties as assigned.Recommended Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional environmental related work experience.Special Requirements: Must possess knowledge of environmental theories, principles, and practices. Knowledge of power plant operations/equipment. Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills. Ability to use formal training in practical application to work assignments. Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position.
