Will provide technical legal expertise, guidance and counseling to the Employment Relations department and Human Resources community on all federal, state, and local Wage and Hour, Employment, and Labor laws, including but not limited to, ADA, ADEA, Affirmative Action, EEO, FLSA, FMLA, IRCA, OWBPA, NLRA, and Sarbanes-Oxley matters. Will also research legal issues, prepare internal memoranda, conduct training, and design "best practices" for Employment Relations, Labor Relations, and the Human Resources community. Provide employment relations support to the Corporate Human Resources team and will also work closely with the California Employment Relations Manager/Director in responding to and anticipating the various (and often unique) issues that arise in the state of California. Identify and prepare information for the Employment Relations Department on topics in those states that have requirements which are different from the federal wage and hour and employment laws. Assist the Vice President, Employment Relations, in managing complex administrative matters, and the federal and state wage and hour audit process, including working with state and federal investigators, managing outside counsel, and coordinating with third party claims administrators to bring matters to a successful conclusion. Obtain daily employment law updates from the media and legal sources and prepare communication memos for the Employment Relations Department and Human Resources community. Assist the Vice President, Employment Relations, in developing new or updating current, employment law-related policies and procedures and will work on corporate-wide employment law projects as assigned.
