Packaging Operator Position Summary: Contributes to the Packaging team by performing rotational duties in the operation of various packaging machines on the production line to include the Whallon Depalletizer, Dud/Taptone, Krones Labeler, Mead Cartoner, Douglas Case Packer and Alvey Palletizer as well as staging and conveyor duties that are unique to the Rainbow line. Performs duties and responsibilities for the business unit consistent with company goals and business unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to include safety, quality, productivity and customer service. of the Position: Performs preventive maintenance, safety and quality checks on equipment and troubleshoots machine problems and jams. Typical preventive maintenance may vary according to type of machine operated but may include keeping machines and photo-eyes clean, oiling and greasing parts, cleaning glue pots and checking chains and ink nozzles. Supports other personnel when operational problems occur. Organizes and performs all cleaning of the work area to maintain an effective level of sanitation. Recommends process or quality improvements to the Team Leader or the Shift Coordinator. Maintains accurate documentation of downtime, material usage, discards and problems. Maintains OSHA Certified Forklift License status. Observes all safety and company rules and regulations in the performance of duties. Requirements: A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Related manufacturing or mechanical processing experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Computer literacy is required. Must be physically able to operate a forklift and climb on ladders and portable stairways. Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting.
