Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant - (US-MI-Detroit - 48288) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: This position is for a microbiology laboratory assistant to work in conjunction with two faculty members within the School of Dentistry to conduct routine microbiological testing of dental office sterilizers as part of an ongoing (30 years) Sterilization Monitoring Service provided for a fee to dental practitioners throughout the continental US and Canada. The assistant is also responsible for maintaining records according to established state and federal laws and guidelines. As time permits, there may be the possibility of participating in ongoing research studies within the department.Education: Bachelor’s degree in a biological science with at least one microbiology course:1. Maintain a log of all test packets received via mail on the day received.2. Aseptic placement of all test and control spore strips within media for incubationwithin 24 hrs of receipt.3. Evaluation of test results on a daily basis.4. Computer entry of negative test results following appropriate incubation time.5. Notification of supervising faculty of all positive test results.6. Sterilization and proper disposal of all test materials.7. Preparation of mailings on a weekly basis to dental office clients.8. Maintain inventory of supplies for the Service.9. Must be able to interact professionally with dental office clients in response totelephone inquiries.10. Perform other related duties as requested.11.
