Child Support Officer II - (US-CA-San Francisco - 94199) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities: Provisional AppointmentAn incumbent with Provisional status will be required to succeed in a Civil Service Examination process for this class in order to be considered for a Permanent Appointment.Position Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of child support officer duties; and perform related duties as required. Essential functions include: interviewing applicants to establish child support cases; establishing parentage and/or enforceable support obligations; locating non-custodial parents; monitoring payment performance and initiating appropriate legal action to collect arrearages; interpreting and applying family support laws; appearing at fair hearings or in court as witness; reviewing documents for compliance with statutes, court decisions and other legal authorities; assisting attorneys by performing a variety of paralegal and investigative tasks; creating and maintaining child support files; attending and participating in meetings, conferences, seminars, and training as a participant or trainer as assigned.MINIMUM Requirements: SPossession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance, economics, social sciences, psychology, education, or closely related field; ANDOne (1) year of experience in establishing and enforcing child support obligations at a level equivalent to 8157 Child Support Officer I. This experience must have included use of any comparable automated child support system (to be assessed during hiring interview.)Substitution/Notes:Professional administrative experience in the functional areas of financial underwriting, insurance adjusting, credit research, collections, eligibility determination for welfare, or other related operations area involving substantial contact with clients in a legal/paralegal environment may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis (30 semester units/45 quarter units equals one (1) year of experience).Desirable Requirements: Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working environment; ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience with the California child support automated system: CSE; ability to maintaining good customer service and relations with the public; ability to speak, write, and read Spanish and/or Cantonese are desirable.Verification:Education must be verified by submitting a copy of the diploma or transcripts. Verification of qualifying experience must be on the employer's letterhead and must show the name of the applicant, job title(s), duties, dates of service, and must be signed by the employer. City and County of San Francisco employees who meet all of the qualifying experience based solely on employment with the City do NOT need to provide verification of qualifying experience. If employees meet qualifications based on a combination of City employment and outside qualifying experience, they MUST provide verification of outside experience on employer letterhead that must be signed by the employer.HOW TO
