The City of Lenexa; a growing, dynamic and progressive city, is accepting applications for a highly professional and motivated Executive Assistant to work in the City Administrators office. Looked to as a leader in local government initiatives, Lenexa has a highly competent, well-educated and professional staff of approximately 450 located throughout ten departments. The Executive Assistant provides highly responsible and professional administrative support to the entire executive office including the City Administrator, Assistant City Administrator, City Clerk, Mayor and City Council Members.
This is a high-profile position for an experienced individual with a senior-management administrative background. The incumbent acts as the first point of contact requiring poise and strong people skills to answer and/or redirect a wide variety of inquiries from city staff and department directors, citizens, officials of other government jurisdictions, the business community and news media. The position assists in researching and executing special projects and study reports on topics relating to City operations. Additionally, provides general office management duties such as maintaining electronic and hardcopy filing systems, processing financial data and purchasing invoices, and maintaining staff calendars with meeting events.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field, and at least four years senior-management, administrative experience with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office suite is required. Preference will be given to those candidates with executive assistant experience in a City government setting. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, handle sensitive materials in a discrete manner, be customer-service focused, and have the ability to research and compile data into cohesive reports and presentations. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who can multi-task in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating a resourceful, positive attitude and a superior work ethic. Qualified applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening; as well as an extensive background investigation.
This is an exempt position with a starting salary of $40,000 to $50,000 annually dependent on qualifications.
