Responsibilities: Successful candidate must have analytical skills to develop models based on extensive power system knowledge and signature waveform understanding. This position is focused on the application of major equipment monitoring and diagnostic devices and procedures. Main activities include addressing on-line and off-line monitoring devices to detect incipient faults within Bulk Electric System major components, such as EHV transformers, shunt reactors, gas insulated switchgear, circuit breakers, batteries, switches, etc. This position will develop analytical tools that can trend, parse, and select components that should be reviewed by field technical personnel pre-failure. In addition, this position will work with substation interface software to develop graphical representations, notifications, and trend analysis. This position will help develop a system-wide view of all monitored equipment. It will also explore FNET information on a wide-area basis to deliver benefits to . The successful candidate must have proven research and development skills and possess knowledge of state-of-the-art software and modeling tools and techniques. Candidate will help develop training modules and conduct training classes Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles. Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead. Provide guidance to less experienced engineers. Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
