We help patients needing urgent, highly-specialized or complex care and also provide high-quality, wellness-oriented primary care for routine illnesses and maintenance of good health. We are currently looking for healthcare professionals to join our team in the Medical Center of Houston, TX.
Bilingual Medical Assistant (Pedi-Surg)
Responsibilities:
• Assists patients into exam rooms
• Assists with scheduling appointments and tests
• Stocks and maintains inventory of clinic and medical supplies
• Cleans, maintains and stocks exam rooms after every patient encounter
• Prepares, maintains and files patient medical records as needed
• Maintains a record of all physician meetings
• Takes patient’s brief history and vital signs as directed
• Assists and documents patient calls regarding prescription refills, test results and physician orders
• Prepares patients for treadmill testing and holter monitors
• Maintains and repairs clinical instruments and equipment
• Documents and reports medication changes, labs and x-ray reports
• Keeps patients and families informed of delays and progress of clinic appointments
• Assists in coverage at the front desk as needed, including answering of telephones
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Two years related pediatric or surgery experience and/or training in a specialty office environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have knowledge and experience of CPT and ICD-9 coding, insurance verification and scheduling experience
• Bilingual in Spanish/English required
