Transportation Professional Engineer - (US-FL-Tampa - 33697) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities and Requirements: The Transportation Professional Engineer is expected to: Perform a variety of assignments in the administration and supervision of a major engineering function within the Transportation DivisionRepresent the City at policy level board meetings to further transportation and mass transit initiativesSupervise and participate in the preparation of design plans, survey work, specifications and contract documents for a large variety of projects requiring contract bidSupervise and administer planning and/or design of major engineering functionsPrepare cost estimates and makes recommendations for inclusion in annual departmental budgetReview and initiate approval of plans and specifications prepared by consulting engineering firmsMonitor field engineering construction work and conducts follow-up inspectionsExercise general supervision over professional, sub-professional, technical, and clerical personnelSupervises master planning for the State Comprehensive Plan and infrastructure improvementMake presentations to Transportation agencies, boards, committees, and at public meetingsPerform additional duties relating to the successful execution of this positio Knowledge of principles and practices of the assigned area of engineeringKnowledge of federal, state, and municipal rules, regulations, and other pertinent documentsKnowledge of engineering developments and information related to assigned areaKnowledge of engineering and administrative management procedures, practices, and methodsThe ability to supervise the work of personnel engaged in a variety of engineering assignmentsThe ability to analyze and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and other technical materials and draw sound conclusionsThe ability to organize in report form and present sound recommendations effectively, both orally and in writingThe ability to train others in assigned areaThe ability to speak in publicThe ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the public.Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Civil or Transportation Engineering degree from an accredited universityMaster''s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Project Management preferredTen (10) years of progressively responsible traffic/transportation engineering experience including five (5) years supervisory experienceKnowledge of FDOT Design standards.
