The Center for Computational Science Computational Chemistry Program is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in the development and application of chemical informatics and computational chemistry methods and tools for the discovery of small molecule biological probes and drugs. This position provides the opportunity to work with an industry-standard chemical informatics and high-performance computing infrastructure and a wide variety of computational technologies in a multidisciplinary environment. The applicant will be involved with collaborations focused on the analysis of screening data, de-novo design, and optimization of hits into drug leads and chemical probes. The project will also involve independent research and development of novel integrative approaches at the interface of chemo-, bioinformatics and systems chemical biology and software to address limitations of existing tools. This work is expected to lead to a number of publications. The position will be tailored to prepare for an industry or academic career depending on the candidate. A PhD in chemistry, cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computer science or a related field with a chemistry background is preferred. The candidate should have a strong interest in computational- and information-driven interdisciplinary discovery project and have the ability to learn and adopt computational scientific discovery technologies and methods. Knowledge of ligand- and structure-based design and virtual screening methods is required. Working knowledge of cheminformatics software environments such as Schrodinger, Sybyl, MOE, Open Eye, or other similar tools is a great advantage for this position.
