Responsibilities and Requirements: The Purchasing Manager is accountable for developing the overall purchasing strategy (for assigned commodities) in support of Navistar's business objectivesThis manager establishes interfaces to provide support and include input from engineering, product development, manufacturing, suppliers, and parts distributionThis manager also directs and leads a team of procurement professionals in supplier selection and the purchase of assigned commodities, while maintaining supplier relationshipsAchieve department financial, operational, and quality resultsDevelop cost reduction/profit improvement plans to directly impact yearly economic performance to achieve business goalsDrive strategic and timely supplier selection while adhering to the Navistar sourcing process to ensure best-in-class suppliers capable of supporting product programs, supply base rationalization and sourcing strategiesEngage key executive management staff and functional VPs as required to ensure successful communication and understanding of Purchasing and Logistics strategic initiatives and deliverablesInterface with Supply Base Executive Management on all unresolved or more complex delivery or economic issuesLead, develop, and maintain a highly capable team of Supply Managers utilizing people development/satisfaction/coaching/recognition tools and methodsEnsure continuous improvement of technical and professional skills of all direct reports through effective training and developmental programs and assignments
