Click Here to Apply OnlineOur client, an automotive manufacturer, located half an hour east of Lexington, KY, is seeking a Manager of Logistics and Warehousing to provide leadership and guidance to associates in order to ensure perfect delivery performance, maintain safety among team members, implement continuous improvement activities, and support department and corporate goals and objectives.
This position directs, reviews and approves staff work assignments, performs follow-up work on unresolved issues, such as JIT, quality problems, safety, etc. – PDCA, confirms the status of customer shipments, manpower, and receiving, oversees all shipment’s packaging and documentation to ensure proper procedures and guidelines are followed, coordinates support for assembly line and customer orders, troubleshoots inventory discrepancies and leads in the development of countermeasures, and trains and mentors other associates on company policies and procedures and necessary skills.
Also leads and participates in annual and on-going projects, evaluates associates’ work performance and assists in upgrading their development and talent, plans and improves Department policies and procedures, performs human resources activities including tracking time and attendance, counseling, scheduling, etc., maintains an appropriate level of conventionality and conformance in regard to the corporate culture as expressed in the Associate Handbook, relates well with others, including peers, supervisor, subordinates, customers and suppliers, maintains good attendance and assumes appropriate role(s) when working in a team environment, responds appropriately to unexpected and/or continuing situations which develop in the work environment, performs all of the essential functions of the position with discretion and minimal supervision, prepares reports and attends meetings as necessary, promotes Quality Circle Activities, resolves associate issues as necessary in collating with Human Resources.
In addition, the person selected for this position interviews candidates and recommends potential new hires, maintains appropriate expertise to ensure an effective technical level by utilizing all resources available, travels as needed based on Company business requirements, and fulfills administrative and other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will possess in-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, and terms, strong leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication and good presentation skills, knowledge of appropriate office software applications, ability to negotiate and provide input and recommendations both internally and externally, coordinate and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints, comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, and excellent organizational and time management skills. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus 5 years or more in warehouse and logistics supervision is required (automotive highly preferred).
