Job Purpose:
•To increase customer confidence and loyalty to the Center Store by promoting and executing consistent operating conditions, courteous and prompt service, and a friendly atmosphere.
•To enhance a center store presence by leading, developing and managing grocery operations.
•To execute best practices and maximize sales and profitability.
Job Standards:
Job standards are Key Performance Indicators determined by the company, including but not limited to, sales, gross profit (including shrink), expenses (including labor and supply management), service, legal and procedural compliance. Additionally, Assistant Grocery Managers are expected to exhibit and endorse a strong sense of integrity and urgency in all practices.
Initial Minimum Qualifications:
1.Ability to read, write and speak English adequately.
2.Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
3.Must be at least 18 years old.
4.High School diploma or equivalent.
5.Complete training in Cashier and Grocery.
6.Must be able to comply with scheduling guidelines.
7.Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
8.Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
Desired Qualifications:
1.Proficient with computer and computer programs used in running the department.
2.Demonstrated self-motivation and successful experiences in previous jobs.
3.Strong customer service skills.
4.Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.
5.High standard of integrity and reliability.
Primary (Essential) Job Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.)
Management:
1.Support the department manager in order writing, inventory handling, backroom conditions, efficiencies, and stocking according to company guidelines.
2.Support the department manager in minimizing department supply expenses through proper ordering and efficient usage.
3.Ensure stockroom is cleaned and restacked.
4.Ensure proper preparation of merchandise for reclaim center.
5.Ensure shelves are cleaned as they are restocked.
6.Ensure the proper receiving, storing, rotating and stocking of all merchandise and back stock. Support the department manager in maintaining plan-o-gram integrity and tags.
7.Make sure that all shelves and displays are blocked and straightened.
8.Support the department Manager by ensuring that the department achieves the standards of performance as outlined in the company work plan.
Management (continued):
9.Ensure all overstock in the stockroom is in an organized manner.
10.Help department manager to merchandise in accordance with the needs of the community.
11.Demonstrate the ability to prevent problems, and/or analyze and solve problems.
Customer Service:
12.Promote the company image as a service-oriented supermarket by greeting, assisting, rendering efficient service and thanking customers in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business-like manner.
13.Resolve customer complaints to the full satisfactions of the customer.
14.Keep products visible and within reach of the customers.
15.Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene and business attitude.
16.Meet attendance requirements.
Train/Coach:
17.Train and develop associates in accordance with the company policy and procedures.
20.Support Associate safety through planning, training, knowledge, and awareness.
21.Support the department manager by ensuring that grocery operations are consistent with all aspects of federal, state and company health, safety and sanitation codes.
22.Support the manager in ensuring that all policies and programs are communicated and carried out in a positive and timely manner.
23.Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns or property defacement.
24.Keep aisles clear of all boxes and carts. Ensure work area is swept clean, orderly and free form safety hazards; report hazards to management. Clean up spills in sales and backroom area.
