BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead/manage multiple project activities in an aggressive and innovative approach in developing quality improvements and cost reductions to existing products utilizing a working knowledge of various materials, manufacturing techniques and engineering practices. Develop improvements to existing products and processes and fulfill business opportunities (target costs, timing and customer requirements), while meeting all applicable codes and standards. Improve manufacturing methods through the modification of existing equipment and processes and make recommendations regarding facility and product design and equipment to meet manufacturing goals. Work with both internal and external resources to justify and implement new equipment and/or processes; prepare production proposals. Work closely with and provide engineering support to the production and maintenance teams in equipment/processes troubleshooting and quality problems. Generate, modify and trouble-shoot machine and process programs. Provide support for plant electronic hardware and software. Generate accurate equipment set-up and operating instructions. Develop programs for energy conservation, noise reduction and environmental control. Initiate appropriation requests for major projects. Develop and analyze complete and accurate 3-D models on CAD, bills of materials and other documentation necessary for the release and implementation of new designs and changes. Evaluate and investigate design change requests from internal/external sources, taking action and making changes which will improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost. Compile, prepare and present data for project updates and technical presentations to staff and/or management. Direct/coach engineering associates to guide product/process improvement efforts to meet project goals.QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. Degree in Engineering or technical discipline Minimum 4 years engineering experience required with significant manufacturing exposure Excellent written and verbal communication skills for dealing with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations Fluent in the use of 3-D CAD (Preferably Pro/Engineer) Proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Office Must possess a business orientation and interactive skills to support the manufacturing team and function as a business partner Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities Experience with lean manufacturing and change management preferred Experience with robot programming (FANUC and MOTOMAN) Experience with automation controls and PLC (Rockwell) Buffing, texturing and stamping experience preferred Supervisory experience preferred COMPETENCIES: Business Acumen Dealing with Ambiguity Creativity Customer Focus Decision Quality Functional/Technical Skills Informing Problem Solving Drive for Results Planning Process Management Time Management Directing Others
