Responsibilities : Serves as senior Cost Engineer on engineering cost estimates for planning design and execution of construction by contract projects. Responsible for the preparation of construction cost estimates for all architectural,and engineering features and reviews the estimates prepared by in house personnel and contracted architect/engineers. Estimates include parametric concept and preliminary budget estimates; as well as detailed design control, Fair Cost, and change order estimates. Prepares Current Working Estimates and design control estimates from sketches, plans, notes and specifications by others. Prepares cost estimates for value engineering studies to formulate alternative and more economical designs. Prepares supplemental IGE estimates for change orders to existing contracts.5 openings. Requirements : This is an which may be filled by a TERM appointment NTE 13 months and can be extended up to a total of 4 years. TDY may be required. This position may be located in various locations throughout Afghanistan. The Afghanistan Engineering District has a District headquarters and various resident offices to execute the projects throughout the country. The position is under the supervision of the District commander within AED. The job provides the opportunity to learn how operates in a reconstruction effort. You will deal with competing priorities and corporate approach to improving programs and methods of operation. Locality rates of pay in CONUS will not be used for pay setting when transferred to overseas area.
