Responsibilities: The Accounting Manager functions as a first level supervisor class in the Property Accounting Department. Incumbents oversee and perform detailed account and statistical record keeping assignments related to Property Management income and distributions and performs a variety of functions aiding the Property Accounting Controller. An Accounting Manager is expected to work with a great deal of independence in performing assigned functions. Applies established accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices to a wide variety of difficult problems. Exercises professional judgment in making frequent, appropriate recommendations for new accounts, revisions in the account structure, new types of ledgers, revisions in the reporting system or subsidiary records, changes in instructions regarding the use of accounts, new or refined account classifications or definitions, etc. Requirements Oversees, supervises, and participates in the activities related to payroll and employee benefits, investment tracking, accounts payable, cash receipts, and related accounting and statistical record keeping relating to the fee-management of properties; oversees input, balancing and reconciliation of data in the general ledger. Plans, schedules, and assigns work; participates in the hiring, training, evaluation, discipline and career development of subordinates; reviews the work of subordinates as necessary and serves as a resource to assist in solving problems. Identifies specific difficulties or potential problem areas and recommends corrective methods or policies. Enters account data into system; researches unbalanced accounts; provides information to Auditor; and completes necessary reports. .
