Responsibilities: Assist classroom staff with all classroom related duties and serve as an active facilitator of childrens educational and behavioral goals by role modeling and interacting with students as part of a trans-disciplinary team. They provide educational intervention, under the direction of the special education teacher, to help each child reach his/her highest level of independence. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of one year experience working with children in a classroom or childcare environment. Working with children with special needs preferred. Must have the ability to work with and supervise children in a variety of educational settings including, but not limited to, self-contained, integrated, off-site, and childcare. Must be at least 18 years of age to supervise children independently. Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. All teacher assistants in New York State must be certified. Employee must show evidence of intent to complete requirements for Level 1 Teacher Assistant within 90 days of date of hire to continue employment. Bilingual preferred. .
